The European Carton Excellence Award (ECEA) is the most prestigious and respected award in the cartonboard industry.
Founded in 1997 and hosted by Pro Carton and the European Carton Makers Association (ECMA), the ECEA celebrates the most innovative cartonboard packaging designs from some of the world’s most renowned brands, innovative design agencies, and Europe’s finest cartonboard converters.
In 2023, more than 100 entries were received from all corners of Europe. Enter today to demonstrate to current and prospective clients how your company’s creative flair and commitment to the environment will benefit their brands.
The European Carton Excellence Award celebrates the best designs in four categories:
• Food & Drink Packaging – Virgin Fibre
• Food & Drink Packaging – Recycled Fibre
• General Packaging – Virgin Fibre
• General Packaging – Recycled Fibre
Additionally, you can choose to enter the:
• Sustainability Award
• Innovation Award
Each entry is automatically entered into the Public Award* – voted for by industry professionals and members of the public. The award judges will choose the highly sought after Carton of the Year Award from all entries.
* Entrants can choose to opt out of the Public Award
Who can enter?
All partners in the supply chain can submit entries, including brand owners, retailers with private label brands, design agencies, carton converters, and cartonboard manufacturers.

Winners and finalists will be announced at the glamorous awards gala on 19 September 2024 in Berlin, Germany.
