Creativity wherever you look: Award ceremony of the 16. Pro Carton/ECMA Award

The annual Pro Carton/ECMA Award is one of the most distinguished awards in its category, and is now in its 16th year. The award honours packaging which has proven itself on the market. For the first time, the competition was open to all partners of the supply chain: cartonboard and carton manufacturers, designers, brand owners and the retail trade. The awards were presented on 20. September 2012 at the ECMA Congress in Copenhagen. The Carton of the Year award went to the champagne packaging Taittinger Rose Lens by Van Genechten.

Call for entries: Pro Carton/ECMA Award 2012

New: as of now the Pro Carton/ECMA Award is open to all partners in the supply chain - entries from the cartonboard and carton industry, as well as designers, manufacturers of branded products and the retail trade are welcome. After all, each member of the supply chain adds its contribution to the design of successful packaging.

The International Pro Carton Design Award honours new, as yet not realised design ideas in cartonboard applications, and is open to students. Participation is free of charge. The official closing date is 5. February 2012 – anyone who has not quite completed his/her project can arrange for a brief time extension with Pro Carton.

Pro Carton/ECMA Award 2011: interest keeps growing

In 2011, companies from 15 European countries participated in the Pro Carton/ECMA Awards. At 114 entries, the number of entered packaging concepts was the second highest ever. The finalists will be announced during the ECMA Congress in Barcelona from 14. - 17. September 2011, and together with the finalists, the winners will be honoured at the Pro Carton Congress in Düsseldorf in the spring of 2012.

Cartons – best of the show

In the past two years, cartons have climbed to the summit of the worldwide packaging design competition Pentawards and won the Diamond Pentawards in both years: in 2009 the highly attractive “Kleenex Slice of Summer” from the USA, and in 2010 the luxurious hairstyling series “Hoyu 3210” from Japan. The jury was particularly impressed by the sparing use of information to make the design even more convincing. This confirms Pro Carton’s postulate that cartonboard is the ideal basis for bringing the message to the consumers!

Young Design for a Sustainable Future

For the second time now, the Pro Carton/PPV AUSTRIA Design Award of the Austrian carton industry was presented as part of the Printissimo/Emballissimo gala event. As yet non-realised ideas by promising design students from Austrian design schools were shown under the motto “Young Design Stars“. The significant increase in entries has undoubtedly confirmed that the award has established its place in the world of design. The awards in the two categories went to Christian Lang (packaging) and Flora Hauser (other applications).

Fresh Design from Europe: International Pro Carton Design Award 2012

The International Pro Carton Design Award is an award for new, as yet unrealised design ideas in the field of carton applications and is directed at students. The aim of the award is to discover as yet unrealised solutions and ideas throughout Europe relating to the use of carton, to present these to the public, and maybe even realise them. The European competition takes place for the third time in 2012.
