New Pro Carton Carbon Footprint: 885 kg CO2 eq / tonne

Based on Life Cycle data from 2014, Pro Carton has calculated that the industry’s Carbon Footprint figure is 885 kg CO2 eq / tonne of cartons.

All mediocrity or what?

At a marketing event organised recently by Pro Carton and Propak Austria in Vienna, geneticist and bestselling author Markus Hengstschläger demanded the renouncing of mediocrity.

Pro Carton Website in New Design

The new Pro Carton website went online on 18. September 2014 – entirely modern and clear. Starting in English, the site will soon be available in all five languages as usual, i.e. German, French, Italian and Spanish as well. The potentials of cartonboard and cartons are to be presented even better and with greater variety. We look forward to your feedback!

25 years Pro Carton: looking into the future

For 25 years, Pro Carton has been tasked with communicating the benefits of cartonboard and cartons. The entire Packaging Supply Chain is supplied with current information and studies. The anniversary was the occasion for a festive gala evening on 19. September in Dubrovnik, at which President Roland Rex looked at the coming 25 years.

News on the Pro Carton Congress: Packaging in a digital world

Pro Carton at Interpack

In 2011 Pro Carton will again be exhibiting at Interpack, the world’s most important trade show for the packaging industry, which this year will be held in Düsseldorf from 12 to 18 May 2011. Meeting point is Hall 7a, Stand 7aB31. Pro Carton will be exhibiting together with the Association of German Paper Factories (VDP), the trade association Paper Processing (WPV), and the trade association Paper Technology Specialists (PTS).

In Memoriam Mans Lejeune

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Mans Lejeune on February 12th at the age of 79. Mans was a titan in the carton industry in Europe and his legacy will endure through the continued development of that industry over the coming years.

Report on ECMA

In October 1960, 10 national carton associations founded ECMA. After a few years of careful bilateral contacts, a formal structure was established to engage in cross border communication, the exchange of market data and promote technical development of equipment.

These were the days of European post war recovery and the foundation of the European Economic Community. One of the first projects of the newly founded association was a study into the development of a new phenomenon called ‘supermarkets’, of which a number count revealed that there were less than 1000 in the participating countries.

Richard Dalgleish

At the age of 62, Richard Dalgleish has decided to take a step towards retirement and will relinquish his present position. He has run Pro Carton for nearly 10 years now and now feels it is a good time to pass on operational responsibility to Suzanne McEwen, the Head of Marketing and Communications, and Jennifer Buhaenko, the Head of Public Affairs.

Interview with Roland Rex the newly appointed Chairman of Pro Carton

"We have great products with the best sustainability credentials and which are requested by consumers, and we must ensure that our messages get across clearly and concisely to all those who are responsible for packaging in the supply chain. Brief Interview with Öystein Aksnes, President of CEPI Cartonboard

Öystein Aksnes has been appointed as President of CEPI Cartonboard, the Association that brings together most of the cartonboard manufacturers in Europe and also some from the USA. After spending much of his career at former MoDo-group and Iggesund Paperboard, Oystein joined Stora Enso in 2008 and currently operates as Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Carton Board. Here he talks to Richard Dalgleish about CEPI Cartonboard and his plans for the future.

Gold Medal for Mike Clark

Pro Carton was delighted to hear that its former President Mike Clark has been awarded the Paper Industry Gold medal for 2010. This is a well established award made each year by the British Paper Industry to one individual. The award is made to "People with foresight, a real understanding of the industry and, above all, a passion for their subject". Pro Carton is delighted that Mike’s contribution to the paper and board industry has been recognised in this way and join many other in offering their congratulations to him.
