The Pro Carton ECMA Award is widely supported: in 2014, more companies participated than ever before, and at 120 entries, this is the second highest number of entries in the history of the competition. The award ceremony for both Awards is a premiere this year: the winners will receive their awards at the first joint congress of ECMA and Pro Carton in festive surroundings – on 18th September at the Award Gala in Sorrento (Italy).

The meeting of the jury for the Pro Carton ECMA Awards at the beginning of July proved highly satisfactory: with over 120 entries from 12 European countries, the competition has taken on a broader base than ever before. In August, the finalists will be presented here on the E-News and the redesigned Pro Carton Website, and on 18th September the awards will be presented – at the Award Gala of the ECMA-Pro Carton Congress in Sorrento (Italy).

The mood was excellent at this year's Interpack in Düsseldorf from 8. to 14. May which set a new record with 175,000 visitors. The award-winning packs of the Pro Carton ECMA Awards were the eyecatchers at the joint Pro Carton stand.

Cartons are not only attractive, they also have a lot to offer! To advance their development, the Pro Carton ECMA Award is presented annually by Pro Carton together with ECMA, the European Carton Makers Association. In addition Pro Carton runs a special competition, the Pro Carton Young Design Award, every two years to promote young talent. Participants from across Europe are welcome to join. The deadline for submissions to both awards is June 6th 2014.

The Pro Carton/ECMA Award will be awarded for the 18th time in 2014 and is the most prestigious European award for cartonboard packaging. It represents the most attractive and successful cartons which have entered the market new. All partners of the Supply Chain – cartonboard and carton industry, as well as designers, brand owners and the retail trade - are more than welcome to enter the competition. The last date for entries is 6. June 2014.

Revolution in the retail trade

At the Pro Carton Marketing Event in October 2013 in Vienna, Georg Wiedenhofer, Managing Director of the Gallup Institute, presented a brand new international study on the development of E-commerce, and Willy Zwerger, a renowned journalist and retail expert, discussed developments relating to international trade. This was followed by a high-level discussion round with the audience with the conclusion: the entire supply chain needs to take action.

25 years Pro Carton: looking into the future

For 25 years, Pro Carton has been tasked with communicating the benefits of cartonboard and cartons. The entire Packaging Supply Chain is supplied with current information and studies. The anniversary was the occasion for a festive gala evening on 19. September in Dubrovnik, at which President Roland Rex looked at the coming 25 years.

Pro Carton/ECMA Award has been an outstanding success: The interest in new ideas in the fields of cartonboard and cartons has increased significantly, as indicated by the growing number of entries: nearly a third of companies have participated for the first time – we have never had that many newcomers for our Award. Pro Carton/ECMA Award 2013: record participation!

The jury of the Pro Carton/ECMA Awards met recently and first impressions were very positive: with 49 companies and over 100 entries from 11 countries, more companies than ever before have participated, and not only from the carton industry, but the entire Packaging Supply Chain – 14 of which were absolute newcomers! In August, the finalists will be presented here on the E-news and the Pro Carton website. The prizes will be awarded on 19. September as part of the ECMA Congress in Dubrovnik.
